urban designs for “La Défense”

"On break

La Défense is the first European business district. 180000 are employed and working in it every day. The area and time are saturated by the rhythm and opposed flow. Out of any known scale, it’s the place of paradoxes, between full and empty, horizontal and vertical lines, fast and stopping, public and intimacy...All its employees deserve a break.

With this particular system of urban design which is integrated in place of the existing slabs, we are proposing a space for these workers a place to retreat for a moment. It’s a cover out of the flows where time slows down a little. Kept in the calm but never stopped, as a lighted watch over evolving all along the day and extract us from the grey of La Défense.
The lamp evocation, object extracted from the domestic area, allows us to establish a step between work space and the need of friendship."
